Albuquerque, New Mexico was the site of the INTEL International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) on May 13-19, 2007.
Perched on an uplifted mesa, with its extinct volcanoes and mountain ranges, the city played host to over 3000 students,
chaperones, and parents at this impressive event. ISEF brought students together from 50 countries, with finalists
presenting over 1500 projects. The excitement started on Monday, May 14, with the opening ceremonies highlighting
Native American and Spanish cultures that have influenced the area for centuries. On Tuesday, a panel of six Nobel
Laureates was asked very thought-provoking questions from student finalists, including Yang Ge, from Stanton Prep.,
resulting in an impressive and exhilarating two hour discussion. Over 900 judges from New Mexico's colleges, universities,
and corporations, along with professors, scientists, and other members of the scientific community, who traveled from all
corners of the world, interviewed finalists on Wednesday to discern category place awards, special awards, and
government awards. Thursday and Friday concluded this gala event with three awards ceremonies, presentations by
community leaders and corporate sponsors, and fun activities for all.
